Voice Drama — The Town Finally Learned to Talk

New mode: skip the canned audio, speak the lines yourself. Your seat voice sticks for the whole match. Judgment has arrived, whether we are ready or not.

New mode: skip the canned audio, speak the lines yourself. Your seat voice sticks for the whole match. Judgment has arrived, whether we are ready or not.

We have crossed from theory into fact.

Voice Drama is live — a new Witch Town mode where the town does not play a tape of someone else’s conviction. You speak the words. Out loud. Into a microphone. Like a person who has opinions and poor impulse control.

No more hiding behind the polished narrator while you silently tap Accusation III. In Voice Drama, if you are about to ruin Solomon’s afternoon, the table hears you ruin Solomon’s afternoon.

What it is (and what it is not)

Voice Drama keeps the cards, the roles, the day turns, the polite social murder. What changes is the soundtrack: instead of the usual audio game delivery, players speak the dramatic lines that accompany the match.

Your seat gets a voice flavor for the whole game — Jester, Gossip, or whatever the casting table hands you — and that voice stays strapped to your chair until the mist settles. You do not swap mid-trial because you suddenly feel more “documentary.”

Role draft — your seat voice stays for the entire match

The casting screen says it plainly: your role shapes the story; your seat voice stays with you for the entire match. Rebecca Nurse still cancels the first accusation each round. She just might say it like a sweet grandmother who has already decided you are wrong.

A sample from the floor

Prudence, Gossip voice, Seat 4:

“I am placing a shield where it matters.”

AI player Prudence delivers a Gossip voice line

Witchtown, Jester voice, Seat 1:

“Judgment has arrived, whether we are ready or not.”

Jester voice announces judgment on Day 1

Same table. Same Day 1. Completely different energy. One of you is doing civic duty. One of you is auditioning for a traveling tragedy company. Both of you still have Arson in hand. The town notices.

Why we built it

Social deduction was always theater with extra steps. Voice Drama removes the extra steps and leaves the theater.

  • You perform the beat — accusations, shields, and “I swear I’m civilian” energy, spoken
  • Seat voice is sticky — commit to the bit; the bit commits back
  • AI seats still talk — bots deliver lines in character so four-player tables do not go quiet
  • The cards still bite — Asylum, Accusation, Arson. Words do not cancel fire

If your friends were already doing funny voices in Discord while pretending not to, congratulations: that was beta testing.

How to try it

  1. Open game.playwitchtown.com
  2. Start or join a room
  3. Pick Voice Drama when the mode list appears
  4. Draft a role, accept your seat voice, unmute, and mean it

Bring a microphone. Bring dignity if you have any left. The town will remember how you said “We have crossed from theory into fact” — and whether you said it before or after you played Arson.

See you at the table. Speak clearly. Accuse carefully.
